DARREN FLETCHER insists that Amad Diallo is “doing very well” at Rangers.
Giovanni van Bronckhorst landed the big money signing from Manchester United on loan in January as he strengthened his title-seeking ranks with Celtic.
Still, the striker has so far failed to show the form that earned him his move from Atalanta to Old Trafford.
The 19-year-old has scored just one goal in five appearances so far for the Scottish champions, but recently caught the eye in a bounce-back game for Brentford, netting twice.
Despite his lack of minutes in recent weeks, the Man Utd technical director insists the winger has been a success at Glasgow.
Quoted by AthleticismFletcher said: “We currently have 13 young academy players and products on loan and playing regularly in other divisions or leagues.
“I hope we see players like Brandon Williams, Teden Mengi, Jimmy Garner, Ethan Laird, Tahiti Chong and Amad Diallo reap the benefits.
“All are doing very well on loan and we are delighted to bring them back into pre-season to see how they fare with the first-team players.”
Diallo made a stunning start to life at Rangers by scoring in the opening minutes of his debut against Ross County.
But he’s struggled to buy time in the park lately as he seeks to return to Van Bronckhorst’s starting squad.
Next up for the Light Blues is an away clash at St Johnstone as the champions seek to end their patchy form domestically.
Since the winter break they have won just three of their eight league games, including Sunday’s home draw with Motherwell.
Celtic currently lead the Premiership table by three points with ten games remaining.
